Research Summary

Dr. Fernandez's research aims to uncover the genetic and epigenetic basis of childhood neuropsychiatric disorders, including Tourette Syndrome, OCD, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorders. The overall goal is to advance our understanding of the biology of these disorders and to improve diagnosis and treatment.

  • Using high-throughput sequencing and microarray technologies to discover genetic and epigenetic variation in Tourette syndrome, Complex Motor Stereotypies, anxiety disorders, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Clinical trials of medication and behavioral therapies for children with tic disorders
