Biographical Info

Miriam Berkman, J.D., M.S.W., is a clinician in private practice in New Haven and a supervisor in the Child Study Center's Trauma Section. She was a member of the Child Study Center faculty for 21 years until her retirement and establishment of a full time clinical practice in 2012. As a member of the Trauma Section faculty, Ms. Berkman provides consultation and training to New Haven police officers and others regarding children’s experience of violence and effective collaborative approaches to intervention, with a particular focus on domestic violence, and provided trauma-focused evaluation and treatment of children exposed to a wide range of violent and catastrophic events as well as supervision and training for other clinicians. In her private practice, she continues to provide trauma-focused clinical services to children, adolescents and adults. Ms. Berkman received her social work degree at Smith college School for Social Work and her law degree at Yale.
